Spanningen byggs upp infor Hobart

LISA Norden's meteoric rise in the triathlon world has certainly put her opposition on notice. .And she is now quickly becoming the hunted instead of the hunterThe Swedish star may have only learned to swim six years ago but she has climbed the ladder rapidly in becoming a major threat on the international circuit. She claimed the under-23 world championship last year by winning in Hamburg, has already qualified for the Beijing Olympics and earlier this month beat home some of Australia's best in the Perth Australian Triathlon Championships. As she prepares for her third Hobart International event on Sunday, Norden admits she needs to sit down and re-assess her goals following her success. "Last year was a big step up, it's gone really quick," Norden said yesterday. "To find myself in this position now, I wouldn't even have dared to dream two years ago I would be here. "I was thinking about the girls getting medals at World Cups and World Championships and imagined being placed with them . . . then I found myself winning in Hamburg. "It was an amazing experience taking on girls in the World Cup and matching them, they were goals I put for myself in two years time. Everything has gone so quick. "Now I need to sit down and re-assess things, I'm already ahead of where I thought I would be." The sprint course is another chance for Norden to test herself in what is shaping up as a blockbuster female section. Established Australian stars Erin Densham, Emma Moffatt and Annabel Luxford -- who are all gunning for a spot in Beijing -- will all be competing, as will recently crowned Australian Champion Alee Sharp. Norden was second in Perth to Canadian Carolyn Murray, but because both hold international licenses they are not permitted to win the national title. It is this freedom of pressure which also allowed Norden to gain invaluable experience in the countdown to the Olympics. "Going to Hobart is just a bonus, a chance to race some really good people over the sprint distance," she said. "With those athletes I try to find a gear I haven't had before, there is no pressure on me."
